2020-2021 Designer and Luxury Wishlist
The 10 most coveted high-end designer pieces that I simply cannot afford.
If there’s one thing about me, it’s that I like to window shop above my means. I love luxury brands but my credit card limit does not. Gucci, Chanel, Prada, Dior...All brands that appear in my recent search history but are scarcely found around the ole’ closet. So what’s a girl to do? Write a blog post/wishlist/mood board situation as a form of therapy. Chanel, if you’re reading this, can you send a b*tch a handbag?
Anyway. Here are my top designer items that will forever taunt me from my shopping cart. (Some of these links are affiliate links—meaning I will earn a modest commission if you purchase through this page!)
Designer Handbags
Christian Louboutin Cabata Leather Tote ($1,290)
This bag is f-ing everything, excuse my language. It’s the perfect balance of edgy punk-rock meets sophisticated businesswoman (that’s probably why I love it— it speaks to the counterculture alt lover inside me). I could sport this tote anywhere, from meeting with clients to a night out on the town. I’m dying over the studded detailing near the handles, which is obviously the key focal point of the piece. The signature pop of red elevates the bag and accentuates the studding. The price point is also great for the size of the bag—a BIG deciding factor for me. It’s just…it’s everything. Bravo Louboutin.
Chloe Marcie Mini Fringe Double-Carry Satchel ($1,390)
When I think of Chloe, I think of endless versatility and subtle sophistication. This bag is exactly that, with an added fringe detail that elevates this bag from Chloe’s typical handbag into a flirty little 70s number. It’s Coachella meets fine leather (I mean that in the best way) and I am absolutely a fan. It wouldn’t be an everyday purse for me— but I would probably make an excuse to incorporate it into as many boho-centric outfits as I could possibly put together.
Bottega Veneta Cassette Chain Shoulder Bag ($3,800)
Bottega Veneta’s iconic bubble purse hit my radar this year (I know, I know, am I living under a rock?!) and I’m pretty obsessed with everything in the collection. This girl loves chunky chains and statement metals and this bag is serving exactly that. The Cassette Chain Shoulder Bag works day to night and would compliment so many different looks. It’s casual, yet flashy and unique. Catch me looking for a second job to supplement my handbag fetish.
Chanel Classic Tweed & Gold-Tone Metal Handbag ($5,900)
I don’t know why I have such an obsession with Chanel, but there’s something about that double C logo that signifies peak luxury to me. I feel like this bag speaks for itself— the tweed, the shape, the pastel colors. It so clearly embodies that Parisian, romanticized life that Chanel symbolizes to me. Tweed is absolutely major this spring, a trend Chanel is essentially known for, which just fuels my desire for this bag that admittedly costs more than my first car did. don’t even need it in pink, I’ll take it in black. It’s so unobtainable to me it’s nauseating. Love it. Need it. Would probably give up my firstborn for it.
Designer Clothing
Attico Cotton Jersey Mini Dress ($492)
Major swoon for this little shirtdress number! As a 20-something about to enter her professional career, I can’t help but drool over this piece. It’s fitted absolutely perfectly and is effortlessly classy. The padded shoulders are an 80s businesswoman’s dream…and mine. The half-button detail and the side slit truly bring this piece to levels I never imagined a shirt dress could have. It gives me all the powersuit vibes while keeping a feminine flair. I’m here for it.
Balmain Monogram Wool Blend Belted Cardigan ($1,995)
To be entirely honest, I never imagined myself to be a printed cardigan type-of-gal. It wasn’t until I saw one of my favorite fashion bloggers (and true fashion idol) Sammi Jefcoate style her printed Gucci cardi that I fell in love with the look. Bold prints, jacquard fabric, and “logomania” are quite in-style for spring 2021 and this sweater delivers on all fronts. I love the self-tie belt around the waist, as I tend to shy away from cardigans that make me feel shapeless. This is a timeless, forever kind of piece. A true closet staple.
ETRO Printed Pleated Silk Twill Skirt ($1,670)
Did I mention that bold prints are huge right now? I’m a big fan, especially of this ETRO piece. Gimmo Etro is known for his luxurious fabrics and experimental use of prints/colors…and this skirt is a testament to his vision. I could think of countless ways to style this but I’d mainly pair it with a solid crop top, a leather body harness, a rope sandal, big sunglasses, and a statement floppy hat.
Attico Pre-Fall 2020 Dress (est. retail $2,000+)
Another to-die-for Attico piece. This dress is exactly the kind of extra I try to emulate in my daily life. I can’t track down an official name or price, it’s only listed as “Look 2” on Attico’s website, so the jury is out on how much this actually costs. I compared other dresses in the collection to ballpark the price of this look but honestly, it could be more expensive. It's giving me Rihanna red carpet vibes, or more recently Dua Lipa in Versace at the Grammy’s.
Designer Shoes
Prada Leather Zip Pocket Combat Booties ($1,350)
Be still, my heart! Prada has done it again. These are pretty phenomenal in my opinion. I love a good utility clothing item and I could think of so many things to store in the little zipper pocket (AirPods fit perfectly, in case you were wondering). These boots are complimentary to my Prada 2005 Re-Edition Nylon bag, and yes, I would absolutely wear them together. The buckle across the laces is also a great detail. Very steampunk looking. Love them.
Bottega Veneta 90mm Mesh & Leather Lace Up Pumps ($930)
These shoes are like elegant fishnet stockings for your feet. The delicate details—namely, the wraparound ankle ties, the leather piping, and the square toe—are truly what make Bottega footwear stand out in the crowd. While my first purchase of these pumps would have to be black for the most versatility within my wardrobe, I am swooning over the green and red for summer 2021.
Well, there you have it. The drool-worthy designer pieces that haunt my dreams and will (more than likely) forever remain in my “saved for later” section of Luisaviaroma.
